A mobile app, website, email templates, apparel and more. All of these were built from the ground up to provide their followers with engaging outlets from which to discover gems and explore the city of Austin, Texas.

CHALLENGE

Most of the work I made for 365 Things had to first be created as a proof-of-concept, and all had extremely light brand guidelines that evolved over my years of working with them. There was constant competition from other players in the market and we needed to stand out.

OUTCOME

  • Mobile app designed and developed, with NFT integration
  • Website redesign and weekly email letter delivered

  • Pitch decks created to win ad business in Austin

  • Branded apparel for events and online purchase

Mobile App

Mobile App

Mobile
App

The first project with 365 Things was to create a mobile app that mapped points of interest like restaurants, shops, as well as daily events. My client wanted to allow users to interact with their friends inside the app and on the map, earning points for destination visits.

As the sole designer, I was tasked at establishing everything from colorways, fonts, and source photography, to the hierarchy and flow of each page. The first step in the process was to explore design variations on a few test pages to get the gist of how elements would fit together.

3-D Iconography

Our 3-D illustrator was sourced out of China. She and I worked together to perfect the color, direction and feel of each icon in the app. The concept with to add moments of delight and an exploratory / playful energy as users meandered around the map.

Expansion

& Application

The post-exploration phase of the project netted out an adaptive design system that could then be expanded to every new screen in the app. A distinct visual (and ux) pattern was established to ensure a harmonious journey no matter the start / end points.

+ Visual Q&A

My development team for this project was located in Ukraine, which made annotations and didactic instructions important; we could not meet in person. Our cadence for reviews was multiple times a week over a remote session where my flows were fully mocked into prototypes with detailed interactions. After the code was complete, I set aside time for visual reviews keep our app visually and functionally built to the highest standard.

Website

Website

As the mobile app was wrapping up, the client set their sights on the business' website redesign. The goal was to match the general aesthetic of the app and give users an avenue to deep dive into articles and events around the city.

Templates

Tying all digital entry-points together, I designed email templates for those who wanted weekly and / or daily updates sent to their inbox. These were wireframed and designed in Figma, with the ultimate end product built in Mailchimp. These emails could be tracked by click-throughs and curated per audience segment.

Wearable

_Wearable Merchandise

Recently 365 Things Austin has started to explore apparel to further promote their brand. I illustrated and designed hats and t-shirts which are currently available in their shop. The focus on the wearables is to establish a sense of neighborhood and city-wide ownership.
